NIES 2024: WIEN Leads Conversations on Breaking Barriers in Nigeria’s Energy Sector

Members of the Women In Energy Network (WIEN), a group of professional women active in the energy industry, made significant contributions at the recently concluded Nigeria International Energy Summit (NIES) 2024, which took place from February 26 to March 1, 2024, at the International Conference Centre (ICC) in Abuja.

Leading Roles

WIEN members took prominent roles as speakers and moderators, leading discussions on advancing the nation’s energy sector. Additionally, several companies associated with WIEN members participated in this prestigious event.

Summit Overview

NIES serves as a global platform for stimulating discussion, facilitating interactions, and signing high-level deals, and remains the only event officially endorsed at the highest level of the Federal Executive Council. Over the years, the summit has gathered governments, national and international oil companies, independents, investors, the community, and service providers. It prides itself on offering unrivaled opportunities for deal-making that reshape the energy landscape.

Networking and Expertise Sharing

This high-level business event provided opportunities for companies and individuals to network, showcase their expertise, and market their goods and services directly to key decision-makers, industry leaders, and stakeholders from both public and private sectors.

Key Contributions

Eyono Fatayi-Williams, Director at JDR Energy Resources and President of WIEN, moderated the Women in Energy Roundtable-Experience Sharing on Tuesday.

Elohor Aiboni, Managing Director at SNEPCo and WIEN Board of Trustees member, was among the speakers at the panel session titled Nigerian Petroleum Producers Forum on Wednesday.

Olu Verheijen, Special Adviser on Energy to the President of Nigeria, participated in the Women in Energy Roundtable.

Godfrey Ogbechie, Group Executive Director at Rainoil Ltd. and VP Midstream and Downstream, WIEN, served as a panelist, and Nnoli Akpedeye, CEO of Contego Serve Limited, moderated the session titled Nigeria Energy Downstream Forum.

Charlotte Essiet, Managing Director/CEO of Elint Systems Limited and Immediate Past Business Development and Media Director, WIEN, moderated Panel Session 8 titled The Gas Day. Rosario Osobase, Managing Director at Tenaris Nigeria and Academy Director of WIEN, participated in Panel Session 10 to discuss the issues of African Content and Opportunities. Iroghama Ogbeifun, Chief Executive Officer of Starzs Ltd and Sponsorship Director, WIEN, functioned as a moderator.
